Paris Hilton Weasels Out of Jail-Time in Cocaine Case

Paris Hilton[HMG Celebrity News] – In another example of how fame — however unearned — can bring special treatment, Paris Hilton will not have to spend any time in jail for her recent felony cocaine possession arrest. According to Nevada law, if convicted Paris could have gotten anywhere from probation to four years in prison — but the standard sentence is 1 to 4 years.  Instead, her high powered lawyer was able to make a deal with Las Vegas prosecutors to serve a year of probation. Hilton will plead guilty to misdemeanor drug possession and to misdemeanor obstructing an officer during a court hearing Monday.  Under the conditions of Hilton’s probation, the famous socialite will face at least a  year behind bars if she gets arrested at any time during her probation.

“There are very strict limits on her future conduct,” Clark County District Attorney David Roger said.

In addition to serving probation, the heiress is required to pay a fine of $2,000, complete 200 hours of community service, and go through a drug abuse program.

The 29-year-old heiress was arrested in Las Vegas Aug. 27 after cops pulled over the vehicle her boyfriend former Las Vegas nightclub manager Cy Waits, was driving and discovered a small amount of cocaine in Hilton’s handbag. Because Hilton lied by saying that the purse didn’t belong to her, the obstruction charge was added. Marijuana was smelled at the time of the arrest and Zig Zag papers commonly used to smoke marijuana were also found in the purse, so it seems no coincidence now that Paris was in the middle of two marijuana possession situations overseas recently that she also weaseled out of.

Las Vegas police have admitted after her arrest on August 27, that Hilton’s booking procedure was 5-21 hours shorter than that of anyone else booked on the same charge. She was in and out of the Clark County Detention Center in three hours, because police said they worried a frenzy would happen if Hilton remained in the jail.
