Oksana Grigorievea swaps lawyers, plans Mel Gibson civil suit
[HMG Celebrity News] – After some much-needed silence since the alleged assault in January and the stream of recordings that followed, it’s now being reported that Oksana Grigorieva still plans to take Mel Gibson to court.
And the delay in the case has been caused by the fact that Oksana’s playing ‘Musical Lawyers.’
Yesterday the 40-year old Ukranian-born musician fired her defense team of Mary Fulginiti and James Spertus. And insiders say it was one ugly scene. Last week she also switched family law attorneys — hiring the reputable firm of Sorrell Trope.
Today, TMZ reports that Grigorieva has replaced Fulginiti and Spertus with Martin Garbus and Daniel Horowitz – who have a strong reputation in legal defense, having already won tough cases for celebs including Robert Redford, Al Pacino and Spike Lee.
Garbus and Horowitz will now represent Oksana in any trial that results from the domestic violence investigation that is currently ongoing, and also in any trial invoked by Mel’s claims of extortion against their new client.
The new team are also said to be preparing a third case against Mel for allegedly blocking Oksana’s music career. His ‘Icon Music’ label owns the rights to her recordings and almost none have so far been released.
The whole sordid scandal has left many in Hollywood with a deep hatred of Gibson, but he still has a great deal of influence in the town. As a result, several top attorneys refused to represent Oksana in any action against him.
With her new lawyers on-board, Okasana’s plan, according to sources is to file the civil battery case by the end of the year.
But the case has a serious flaw: Sources inside the LAPD say the photos showing Grigorieva with facial injuries supposedly caused by Gibson had been altered. The department is investigating the matter.
We’ll keep you advised as to how this turns out…
