Paris Hilton calls 911 over knife-wielding nut-job

[HMG] – In a morning that seems destined to be mostly comprised of publicity stunts, Paris Hilton is now claiming her home was nearly invaded by a knife-wielding mad-man.

The 29-year old socialite called the LAPD to her home in Beverly Hills at around 6.30am today, local time, claiming a man armed with two knives was breaking in. She later posted this note on her Twitter page [the spelling is hers];

“So Scary, just got woken up to a guy trying to break into my house holding 2 big knifes. Cops are here arresting him: http://twitpic.com/2hrfnm“

LAPD officers have since confirmed a man in his mid-40′s was detained at the scene. He was later escorted to a local jail.

Friends tell TMZ that Paris spotted the man on her security cameras as he was approaching the house, and called 911. She then told the cops the alleged intruder was banging on the windows but never actually entered her home.

Police say they consider the individual “armed and dangerous,” and that Hilton was lucky he didn’t get in. Paris did not know the intruder, but it’s not clear whether he specifically targeted her or whether this was just a random attack.
