Michael Douglas determined to fight ex-wife’s claims
[HMG] – Already facing a battle with throat cancer, film star Michael Douglas has decided to take on another battle with ex-wife Deandra Luker over his income from ‘Wall Street 2.’
The 65-year old actor is being sued by Diandra, whom he divorced in 2000 after 23-years. She wants half of his income from the new movie, but Douglas says the terms of their settlement means no money is owed.
The pair were due in Manhattan’s Supreme Court today. Diandra had offered to postpone the proceedings while he undergoes treatment, but Douglas is determined to put her claim to rest.
“Michael declined — he wants to get this over with as soon as possible,” a source told Page Six. “If Diandra really wanted to be sympathetic, she’d withdraw this bogus lawsuit.”
Doctors say the actor’s prognosis is excellent, and he’s expected to make a full recovery after a course of chemotherapy treatment.
The movie — which opens on September 24 – was secretly previewed to a host of Wall Street and Hollywood moguls on Sunday at a mansion in the plush Southampton district, but Douglas himself wasn’t there.
Instead, Michael and his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones had a quiet dinner with their children, Dylan and Carys and some friends at a restaurant in upstate Armonk.
“He looked happy and they dined on scallops,” a spy told the scribes.
A rep for Diandra declined any comment, and Michael’s rep did not return calls. But a court spokeswoman has since confirmed that neither of them will attend today’s hearing.
