Fantasia Barrino claims suicide attempt ‘no accident’

[HMG] – In an unwholesome blend of insincere ‘Mea Culpa’ and hype for her CD, American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino now claims her recent overdose was no accident — She wanted to die.

“I didn’t have any fight in me. I didn’t care about anything. I just wanted out,” the singer tells VH1. “I wanted it to be over with. I just sat in the closet, looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle. I knew what I was doing. You can’t accidentally take a whole bottle of pills.”

Barrino’s manager, Brian Dickens, recalls the stress of finding her slumped on the floor;

“She’d been crying all day.” he recalls. “She texted me, saying ‘I love you.’ I wrote back, ‘I love you more.’ Then it hit me.”

He sent another text telling her not to do something stupid. The reply read, “I already did.”

“I went into her room, saw her on the floor, and my heart just dropped,” Dickens tells People.

So what – other than free, global publicity and trying to hide her affair – made the singer attempt this dramatic finale?

“I was tired of people doing me wrong, dealing with my family, dealing with men…I was tired,” she now claims. “My head was hurting. I was over it.”

The headache got worse when she awoke in the hospital to discover she was being threatened with a lawsuit by the wife of  Antwaun Cook — with whom Barrino was having the affair.

“When I met him, he was separated; Didn’t want to get back with his wife,” she now claims. “And I remember waking up in the hospital and thinking, ‘It didn’t work, I’m still here in this hell-hole.’”

But a PR-friendly suicide bid seems to have reset Fantasia’s compass; She’s now decided to face all her woes;

“I realized how people end up in the grave. Because that one moment of feeling like ‘I can’t go on,’ That was somewhere I never want to go again.”
