Mark Wahlberg admits book dedication ‘not funny’

Mark Wahlberg[HMG] – Celebrities are known for a strange outlook on life, but when actor Mark Wahlberg published his memoir and dedicated the book to his own sexual organ, eyebrows were raised. And Mark now says it was a major mistake.

In the 1992 book “Marky Mark,’ [co-authored with photographer Lynn Goldsmith,] Wahlberg recalls his days as one of the founding members of his brother Donie’s band, ‘New Kids on the Block,’ and his decision to quit and form his own group – ‘ Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch,’ from which the book gets its name.

But in the preface of the book Mark penned the now infamous line, “I wanna dedicate this book to my c—k.”

“I thought it would be funny,” admits the 39-year old actor.

When asked by reporters if the recipient of this bizarre dedication was pleased by the honor, Mark almost blushed.

“That’s one question I won’t answer,” he replied, grinning.

Mark moved from music to acting in 1993, and got his big break opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in 1995′s ‘The Basketball Diaries.” He also scored an Oscar nomination in 2006 for his role in Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Departed.’ But Mark was asked if anyone could persuade him to return to a music career.

“If Justine Bieber asks me, I’ll say yes. Only because my daughter loves him,” he told the Post.

Now busily engaged as Executive Producer of HBO’s ‘Entourage,’ which is based on his own experiences in Hollywood, Mark has often said he will retire from acting once he hits 40, to concentrate on raising his four children and improving his golf.

Today he admits his golf game is beyond all salvation, but his plans for the kids [Ella, Grace, Michael and Brendan] are firmly unchanged.

Mark will hit forty on June 5 of next year, so make the most of his presence as his time is now short…
