WTF: ‘American Idol’ Interested in Jessica Simpson as a Judge?

(HMG) – While recent reports have Elton John, Usher and Paula Abdul, Justin Timberlake, Chris Isaak, Harry Connick Jr.  among celebrity music industry folks under consideration for American Idol, there is a supposed new star under consideration.  TMZ reports, Jessica Simpson has had “several meetings” with the bosses at “American Idol” and there is mutual interest.  Of the bunch under consideration, I would be most excited if Elton John or Harry Connick Jr. were brought onboard, because I think they would make great judges of talent, whereas I probably underestimate her but I picture Jessica as being clueless.  Anyway it may not come down to one choice, because as we mentioned previously, Nigel Lythgoe’s possible return to ‘American Idol’ could mean a clean sweep of all the existing judges. We’ll likely have to wait a month or so to see how this all shakes out, as TMZ reports “Idol” isn’t expected to make an official announcement regarding the judge situation until sometime around the beginning of September.
