(HMG) – House TV star and self-taught musician Hugh Laurie has signed a record deal for a blues album. Golden Globe winner Laurie, 52, has been building up to this opportunity, playing guitar and piano on the hit TV show House, keyboards in the charity group ‘Band From TV’ and played on Meat Loaf’s latest album. Laurie will team up with famous songwriter, guitarist, and record producer Joe Henry, and a range of guest musicians for the New Orleans blues album which he will record this summer, and will be released by Warner label WME.
Laurie said of the new opportunity to record, via the Daily Telegraph: ”I am drunk with excitement at this opportunity.
”I know the history of actors making music is a checkered one, but I promise no one will get hurt. I am particularly thrilled to be working with Joe Henry, who has produced some of my favorite records of all time, and I can’t wait to get started.”
