Al Pacino’s Merchant of Venice Heading to Broadway
(HMG) – This summer’s Shakespeare in the Park production of The Merchant of Venice featuring Al Pacino as Shylock, is apparently so good, you’ll have a chance to see the play this fall and winter, when it moves to Broadway. The Merchant of Venice began performances at Central Park’s Delacorte Theatre on June 12 in repertory with The Winter’s Tale, and will play its final performance on August 1. The play will then show at the Broadhurst Theater from October 19 through January 9, for a total of 78 performances. Directed by Daniel Sullivan, it will be produced by the Public Theater with Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel.
