Gay guru, Howard Bragman preps ‘Coming Out’ show
[HMG] – In what may be the first interesting reality show to air in five years, seasoned Hollywood publicist and coming-out guru, Howard Bragman has sold a one-off special in which several well-known figures will emerge from the closet.
With a history of success that includes helping ‘Bewitched’ star, Dick Sergeant, Chaz Bono, Lance Bass, Meredith Baxter and country singer Chely Wright to reveal their true selves, Howard says he’s not finished yet.
“I’m the guy people come to when they want to come out, ” he told PR Newser. “It’s something I’ve done for twenty years.”
Howard says he was approached by some producer-types who work with A&E, and they told him his work could make a great show.
“We’re in casting right now,” he adds. “Looking for the best stories.”
But this is not the first time Howard has been schmoozed by the cable nets to bring in the drama;
“I’ve been approached multiple times,” he says. “This is the first chance I had to do something empowering that could change the world a little.”
No A-list actor would do reality work, so that leaves Howard fishing in the shallows of C and D-list celebs. But he coyly promises he does have one A-lister on whom he’s working his charms, and things may gel just in time.
Howard himself is openly gay, and married the renowned horse trainer Chuck O’Donnell in July of 2008. But during a recent discussion on being ‘out’ at the Los Angeles gay film festival ‘Outfest,’ he called one unnamed celebrity “Sad.”
“If there are superstar actors who are in the closet and they’re worth $100-million, and they have this whole fake life, there’s just nothing sadder,” he told the large crowd.
The new show, so far called ‘Coming Out’ is scheduled for sometime in late fall…
