Lindsay Lohan checks into rehab as pre-emptive act to get out of jail sentence?

(HMG) – As we mentioned earlier today, Lindsay Lohan has hired O. J. Simpson trial lawyer Robert Shapiro, who has a new plan to keep her out of jail.  According to TMZ sources Shapiro  is not planning to appealing Lindsay’s upcoming prison sentence, which could be used as a stall tactic to keep her out of jail for months. Instead Shapiro, will reportedly be asking Judge Marsha Revel to put Lohan in a very specific rehab facility to reduce, or possibly eliminate, her jail time.  And now it looks the plan is already in motion as Lohan has apparently already chosen to check into a “sober living house” in West Hollywood Wednesday afternoon, as perhaps a preemptive good faith gesture.  In its website, Pickford Lofts is described as a facility which “strives to offer a safe haven so that those in all stages of recovery can develop skills that will aid them in their journey of sobriety.”  It was founded by Shapiro after he lost his son Brent to substance abuse.  Whether Lohan who has claimed many times that she doesn’t currently have a substance abuse problem is really committed to rehabilitating herself, or is it more likely this is just another ploy to avoid jail-time?  The facility seems pretty relaxed as Radar reports, Lindsay has already had a stream of visitors including her enabling mom Dina, sister Ali, former ex girlfriend Samantha Ronson, and rumored new girlfriend Eilat Anschel.
