Did Javier Barem and Penélope Cruz marry because she’s pregnant?

[HMG] – A lot of fans were surprised when Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem got married early this month after three years together, but the Hollywood rumor mill is already in play — Rumors are floating of a cause for such sudden haste — Penny is allegedly pregnant.

The pair met in 1992, but didn’t start seriously dating until 2007. They got engaged in October last year, but plans for a wedding were never discussed. At least, not with the fans.

Now, quoting an unnamed insider, Life & Style magazine is saying the pair got married in haste and in secret because Penélope wanted to make it official before the ‘baby’ arrives.

Frankly, this doesn’t ring true — Penélope is currently filming “Pirates of the Caribbean IV – On Stranger Tides,” whose vibrant action and long days of filming in hot, humid climates would hardly suit an upcoming mother.

Then there are Penny’s own words: Although she’s known to want children, Penny’s made it clear she wants to adopt, and insisted she was not pregnant when the less-scrupulous tabloids ran the story last month.

“I started getting presents from friends, saying, ‘Congratulations, you’re pregnant!’ And I say, ‘No, I’m not,’ So I return the presents.’”

So that’s the position — One magazine swears there’s a child, but the ‘mother’ herself denies any such thing.
