Beavis and Butthead returning to MTV

(HMG) – The MTV animated television series created by Mike Judge, Beavis and Butt-head, is coming back after a 13-year hiatus. Judge, who went on to write and direct films like Office Space, will return to direct the new episodes of the show about two socially inept rock-loving teenage boys, Beavis and Butt-head (both voiced by Judge), who are roommates and live in the fictional town of Highland. While Butt-head dressed in his AC/DC T-shirt was the “cooler” of the two, Beavis, the blond half, usually wore a Metallica T-shirt and would morph into his crazed, gibberish-spewing alter-ego, “Cornholio,” when he ingested too much sugar. Mixed within each old episode were segments in which Beavis and Butt-head watch music videos and provided humorous and bizarre commentary, improvised by Judge. Apparently, in their return to TV, Beavis and Butt-head have not aged since 1997, and they’ll still be in high school, though the music videos they watch will be updated. After the 1996 big-screen movie, “Beavis and Butt-head Do America,” MTV canceled the show in 1997, and Judge went on to create “King of the Hill” for Fox.  Will a new generation of kids watch these guys?
