Larry King ‘a loser’ says Howard Stern
[HMG] – On June 29, Larry King announced his retirement from CNN after 25 years. But for Howard Stern, the 76-year old veteran host can’t disappear soon enough.
The pair are now engaged in a feud, after Larry denounced Howard and his entire ethic in a new interview; Asked by ‘Steppin’ Out’ magazine if Stern would be a worthy replacement when he retires, Larry was blunt;
“No, I wouldn’t want to be compared to Howard Stern: He’s not tasteful at all,” King opined. “You go to the least common denominator, and that’s Howard Stern.”
But he saved the sharpest knife for the end; “I regard Howard Stern as worthless.”
As you might guess, Howard’s not happy.
Sources say he called Larry “a loser” and “the luckiest man in show business” at a party in New York’s Hamptons last weekend, then told his radio fans King was an “f—–g assh–e” on yesterday’s show.
“It’s alleged he was banging his wife’s sister and he’s saying I’m tasteless?” Stern told the News. “He’s a frog An imp, and the luckiest man in show business.”
The 56-year old self-professed ‘King of All Media’ then summed-up King’s resume;
“Larry did overnight radio. He got no ratings. Then he moved to CNN, where he had no competition. As soon as MSNBC and Fox News gave him a bit of competition, the cards folded.”
Howard then made it clear to the scribes that he has the same interest in Larry’s job as he does in American Idol — None. But if he were offered the job, his plan would be simple;
“I’d do everything Larry doesn’t do, because Larry’s a loser and he lost his entire audience.” Then he slid in the knife; “Let’s be honest – He didn’t retire willingly. The man has one foot in the grave. It’s obvious, he’s no longer relevant.”
Larry has, so far made no further comment…
