Kelsey Grammer denies Father’s Day claims

Kelsey Grammer and Camille[HMG] – With Tiger Woods’ divorce now all done but the shouting, a great degree of attention has turned to the breakdown of the 13-year marriage between Kelsey Grammer and his wife, Camille Donatacci. And the story is growing.

Recent press claims say that Kelsey’s failure to call his children on Father’s Day from New York, where he’s appearing on Broadway was the last straw, and that’s when Camille called the lawyers.

Others have said his refusal to allow Camille to appear on ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ was the last nail in their apparent marital bliss.

Either story doesn’t make him look good. But on his blog, Kelsey strongly denies that he failed to call;

“When faced with malicious and unfounded rumors I will defend myself,” he writes. “The truth is that I did call my kids that evening. I had texted Camille that morning.  I hoped that might serve as a reminder.”

He then explains that he and two friends went to dinner after the matinee show, but the call did occur;

“When we got back to the house I called them, as I do almost every night.  Apparently, Mason had been upset because she was missing me.  I spoke to her for some time,” Kelsey explains. “I have spoken to her and her brother, Jude every day since and had called them every day before; Perhaps it was foolish of me to expect a call on Father’s Day, but frankly I did.”

The less intelligent blogs have also been yelling that Kelsey was spied ‘schmoozing’ in a New York burger bar with ‘a dirty blond.’ The truth is that was his 23-year old daughter – Spencer. So, no story there either.

But TMZ‘s report on the Father’s Day feud merely relates a new battle of words between a couple whose marriage was in trouble long before June, as Kelsey admits;

“Camille and I had been discussing the possibility of a separation for some time, before all this happened.  She finally decided she should file. I respect her for this decision,” says the post.

There’s no court date for the divorce yet, and you can expect a lot more press speculation and invented stories before that occurs. So take some advice from the good Dr. Crane;

“Whatever might be said,  I ask that you take the ‘high road’.  I intend to do the same.

So, goodnight, Seattle — We [used to] love you…
