Al Gore assault case reopened by Portland PD
[HMG] – After the bizarre allegations against Al Gore by a massage therapist emerged last week, police in Portland, Oregon have decided to reopen the case.
The therapist, now identified as 54-year old Molly Hagerty alleges that the former presidential candidate had “unwanted sexual contact” with her in a Portland hotel room in 2006. Mr. Gore, 62, denies the accusations and Police are now following leads.
“The Portland Police Bureau has made the decision to re-open the case,” Detective Mary Wheat said in a statement issued yesterday. “Consistent with our policy regarding open investigations, the Police Bureau will not be commenting on any specifics regarding this case.”
Speaking for Al, Kalee Kreider said he’s not worried, and that a new inquiry “will only benefit Mr. Gore.”
“The Gores cannot comment on every inaccurate story generated by the tabloids,” Kreider told CNN. “Mr. Gore unequivocally and emphatically denied the accusation when it surfaced three years ago. He stands by that denial.”
Ms. Hagerty told police she was “subjected to unwanted sexual touching,” by Mr. Gore during a massage she performed on the former VP at his Portland hotel room in October of 2006.
She told them this by reading a statement. In June of 2007.
When officers decided there was not enough evidence to proceed or bring charges, her attorney then told the department his client would ‘pursue a civil case’ and had “declined the assistance of detectives.”
There is no clue as yet on how long or in what direction the investigation might go, but we’ll keep you up to date as new details emerge…
