Landon Donovan says World Cup saved his marriage

[HMG] – Landon Donovan’s dramatic goal against Algeria on Wednesday did more than keep the USA in the World Cup — it may have revived his marriage to ‘Rules of Engagement’ co-star, Bianca Kajlich.

Despite numerous press quotes in which he declared he was getting divorced, 28-year old Donovan is now denying he said any such thing;

“We are not officially divorced,” he told Yahoo today. “We spoke last night; it was nice.”

The Los Angeles Galaxy player and Ms. Kajlich [pronounced 'Kay-Lick'] were married in 2006, but split last year after Landon returned from playing for the German team, Bayern Munich while on loan.

After his winning goal against Algeria he blew Bianca a kiss – on live TV. And that has rekindled their link.

“Every comment I got when I told people I was getting divorced was, ‘I’m so sorry,’ ” Donovan told reporters during the team’s World Cup training in Princeton. “Sometimes you learn more from those moments than anything. For me, that was certainly the case. It can be helpful and you can grow. That is what we both took from it.”

His winning goal in injury time means the American team will now face Ghana on Saturday. So the games are on track, and it seems Landon’s personal life may be following suit;

“It would surprise no-one if Landon and Bianca were back together soon,” says a friend. “They’ve remained in contact and are very close.”

And the friend thinks Landon’s on-air show of affection could be the clincher;

“The fact that Landon wanted to share his special moment with her is very significant.” they opined…
