Judge in Anna Nicole Smith’s death releases new book claiming ‘It Was ‘Foul Play’

Anna_Nicole_Smith_wiki[HMG] – In a sad illustration of the enticements of fame, Larry Seidlin, the Judge who chaired the court case that decided where Anna Nicole Smith should be buried, then declared he’d never discuss it again — has now written a book all about it.

Anna was found unresponsive in Room 607 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida on February 8th of 2007. She died later that day, aged just 39. Now Seidlin tells TMZ he considers her loss “a potential murder case.”

In the new book, “The Killing of Anna Nicole Smith,” the 60-year old former New York cab driver claims the local PD in Hollywood were not skilled enough to investigate Anna’s death;

“They can tell you how to get to Elm Street or the public library, but this case was too much for them,” he opines. “I think there was foul play and it should be investigated by an independent agency.”

Judge Seidlin also insists several times in the book that Anna died under “highly unusual circumstances.”

“She never left her room,” he asserts. “She checked into room 607 and never left. When she was checking in she couldn’t even stand up.”

The 380-page work offer no clues on whom the judge might consider a suspect, but his views of Anna’s companion, Howard Stern are not kind;

“I think enablers should be punished,” he writes. “He was with her every day; How about saying ‘No’? And if she kicks you out, then goodbye and good luck. Then we won’t have all this celebrity blood on our hands.”

Seidlin points out that Mr. Stern had “a great amount of control over Anna Nicole, maintaining her drug desires and addiction.” He goes on to say investigations into both her death, and that of her 20-year-old son, Daniel in September  2006 should be reopened, pointing out that Stern was present both times.

But the judge also admits one fault of his own — Before the trial he had no clue who Anna was:

“Who is Anna Nicole Smith?” he recalls asking his wife, who was stunned he didn’t know. “If she played second base for the Yankees, I’d know her.”

Both Howard Stern and two of Anna’s regular doctors will face trial on August 4th, accused of providing sedatives and other drugs to the model without proper cause or prescription. All have pleaded not guilty and are not charged with her death.

Update: Statement from the Seminole Tribe of Florida

Seidlin is wrong.  Seminole Tribe Police completed a comprehensive investigation of the death of Anna Nicole Smith in complete cooperation with the Broward County Medical Examiner, the Office of the State Attorney and the Crime Lab of the Broward Sheriff’s Office.  Since then, Seminole Police have worked closely with California investigators, who are prosecuting criminal charges in the case.
