Are the Jonas Brothers Old News?

(HMG) – While a small percentage of teen stars make the transition and have success later in life it’s a tough wall to climb.  Just two years ago, the Jonas Brothers were all the rage and with their good looks and catchy pop music they produced a platinum album, and were fast tracked by Disney for movies and concert tours.  While they still seem to have a strong fan base in the past year,  album sales, and ratings for their TV show have fallen off and their 3-D concert movie tanked.  Disney’s focus-group research,  obtained by The Daily Beast, shows that although very young girls, aged 8 and 9, are still smitten by the once Christian-rock band, apparently girls of 10 and older are just not into the Jonas Brothers like they were before.  While a Disney network spokeswoman told The Daily Beast that “Jonas Brothers music fans span a wide age group,” they seem to be heeding their own market research and drastically revamped the Jonas Brothers’ Disney Channel show, (now titled Jonas L.A.), the second season of which premieres Sunday.  A source who has seen episodes of the show tells the Daily Beast, that unlike the first season where the Jonas Bros played high-school kids (a stretch for Kevin who is 22-year-old and married), this time it will be truer to their real lives, living their lives in Los Angeles.  Whether this strategy appeals more to the teen portion of their fan base is uncertain but with Nick being the youngest at 17, the fair haired boys are all becoming men and teens like Justin Bieber and those that follow will step in to have their 2-3 years as teen idols if they are lucky.  It will be interesting in the coming years to see if the Jonas Brothers find any success as adult recording artists.  I would guess Nick might have a better shot at success with a solo career.
