Piers Morgan to sign CNN deal to replace Larry King
(HMG) – Previously we reported that NBC was in talks with Piers Morgan, the tough judge on America’s Got Talent, and a former newspaper editor in Britain, to make him the network’s new Barbara Walters. But Morgan who won Celebrity Apprentice in 2008, and admitted himself he was “pretty close” to a deal with the peacock network will instead
replace Larry King, the veteran US interviewer, in a £5.5 million deal with CNN. The Daily Telegraph reports Morgan is on the verge of signing a four-year contract to take over King’s primetime show in the fall. King, 76, who has been on the scandal pages over his fractured latest marriage, has done the Larry King Show, since 1985, but has seen his ratings drop for the first three months of this year to an all-time low of just 771,000 viewers, down 43 per cent in the last year. Morgan is expected to quit his role on Britain’s Got Talent and base himself permanently in the US.
