Angelina Jolie Onboard for Cleopatra Biopic

(HMG) – Angelina Jolie is in the mix to play the Queen of the Nile, in a new film about the life of Cleopatra.  Author Stacey Schiff, who will release a biography of Cleopatra soon through publishing house Little, Brown, has sold the rights to her book to (No Country for Old Men, Revolutionary Road) film producer Scott Rudin.  Rudin’s office confirmed to USA Today that the project “is being developed for and with [Angelina] Jolie.” At a promotional lunch in Manhattan this week, Schiff said that despite the public’s conception of Cleopatra as a stunner, “we have little idea of what she actually looked like.” Though when asked as a follow-up if Jolie would be a good fit for the part, Schiff went along with the popular Hollywood Cleopatra stereotype saying: “Physically, she’s the perfect look.” Would Jolie’s partner Brad Pitt be the perfect fit then to play Marc Antony, ala Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton?
