Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox sign recording deals

(HMG) – just one day after the show’s grand finale American Idol 2010 Lee DeWyze and runner-up Crystal Bowersox have landed record deals ! Lee will take his Bluesy talents to 19 Recordings and RCA Records, while single mom Crystal will take her soulful sound to 19 Recordings and Jive Records, a music industry tipster divulged to Billboard.com on Friday. DeWyze joins Daughtry and Adam Lambert at RCA, while Bowersox can now count past “Idol” winners Jordin Sparks and Kris Allen, and 2009 finalist Allison Iraheta, as her labelmates at Jive Records. Based on release schedules of past years, fans can expect DeWyze and Bowersox’s debut albums to be released around the holiday season this year.
As we have reported previously, the winner of each season DeWyze in this case, gets $175,000 once they start recording, plus another $175,000 when their first album is done. Should they make a sequel, that earns them $275,000 to $550,000, depending on sales.
Album #3 earns them $325- 650,000, while a fourth brings $375,000 to $750,000. Album #5 earns $450,000 – $900,000, and a sixth would finally net them – $500,000 to $1-million.
For the runner-up which is Bowersox this season – $300,000 total for the first album, and between $225,000 and $450,000 for the sequel — if they make it that far, which I think she will.
As for 3rd through 12th place, they don’t even get a guaranteed contract, but would make $200,000 total for a first album.

Do your research, Crystal has not signed to any label:

Bad timing on the break-up for Crystal and Tony, but she will do fine. She’s got a voice that will carry her far. As a Mom…all she can do is what she thinks is right at the moment for her and her son.
I am always amazed how people comment with such attitude. This story you site is very interesting and indicates Crystal is ‘not aware’ she is signed to any record label. But given Billboard’s track record and how Idol manages their winners, I think the story is probably true.
