Jesse James claims affairs due to ‘childhood abuse’

[HMG] – In his first sit-down interview since his five-year marriage to Sandra Bullock imploded back in March, Jesse James would like the world to believe the single reason he cheated was his unhappy childhood.

In an interview last night on ABC’s ‘Nightline,’ the 41-year old bike guru told host Vicki Mabrey that his father was emotionally and physically abusive, and that all the success in his life, such as his ‘Discovery’ show, ‘Monster Garage’ was;

“A huge smoke screen so people won’t see I’m a scared, abused kid — A 7-year old.”

He also told Vicki his recent flirtation with rehab was meant to deal with this long-past abuse, plus anger management problems and the disastrous fallout from his countless affairs.

“I cried more in rehab in last 30 days than I have in my whole life,” Jesse confessed. “I don’t think I have a sex addiction. I think I do things to sabotage my life, including affairs. I do a lot of things I shouldn’t be doing that aren’t conducive to being a perfect husband.”

Jesse also confessed he’d often lied to Sandra about all the cheating, but he knew he’d get caught.

“When I was doing it I knew it was horrible; It made me feel horrible. And I knew I’d get caught eventually, and I think I wanted to,” he admitted. “Sandra had her suspicions, but I lied my way out of it. I lied to everyone, about everything; Even myself.”

The one bright point in all this, he says, has been their new baby, Louis. Watching his soon-to-be-ex with her new 4-month old son was “one of most amazing things” he’d ever seen.

“She’s like a fish to water,” he recalled. “As soon as they put that baby in her hands, it was automatic and amazing.”

Louis was born in New Orleans, where Jesse and Sandra spent time after Hurricane Katrina. Jesse says they welcomed the new life into their family on New Year’s Day.

The marriage collapsed three months later, just after Sandra won her first Oscar for her role in ‘The Blind Side.’

Divorce papers are already in play, and Jesse said he’s “100-percent sure” that their marriage will end. But he also confessed this was not what he wanted.
