Katie Holmes’ ex, Chris Klein in scary ‘Mamma Mia’ try-out (VIDEO)

{HMG] – The days of auditioning in front of a table of bored casting agents and their flunkies are gone. These days, actors must try out for a camera. And after this awful audition for ‘Mamma Mia,’ Katie Holmes’ ex-fiancee, Chris Klein is probably wishing he never had.

The 31-year old actor, best known for his role as ‘Oz’ in ‘American Pie’  gave this painful performance in 2008, auditioning for the role of ‘Sky’ in the big-screen version of the hit Broadway musical. To our great relief the part went to Dominic Cooper, but this video should make Katie — to whom Chris was engaged for almost eighteen months from Christmas of 2003 — realize the true scale of the bullet she dodged.

How the video surfaced and why it’s taken two years to do so is unclear, but the content is disturbing. In it, Chris painfully warbles his way through ABBA’s 1981 hit ‘Lay All Your Love on Me,’ talks up the talents of his friend, Mandy Moore and generally freaks us out with what some who have survived watching the contents refer to as ‘coke eyes.’

The whole video may just be a fake to gain press – an idea that is helped by the fact that his reps are refusing to comment -  But as he’s already employed on the new animated movie, ‘The Wild Bunch’ with Liz Hurley and has at least two other films on the schedule, that looks unlikely.

Which leaves the conclusion that he really can be this intense. And off-key.
