Greyson Chance closing on Justin Bieber’s tween crown
[HMG] – With Justin Bieber now facing the career-shredding risks of oncoming manhood, another tween star is already hard on his heels — Lady Gaga tribute star, Greyson Chance.
Two weeks ago the Bieber-haired overnight legend was just one more sixth-grader at Cheyenne Middle School in Edmond, Oklahoma. Then he sang at the school’s Sixth-grade festival. You Tube video of this contribution scored 18-million hits in one week, and the rest is a blur.
The 12-year old’s full-throated performance of Lady Gaga’s 2009 hit, ‘Paprazzi’ won the shy songbird a sit-down with Ellen last Thursday, and during the interview the young man got a phone call — from Gaga.
“Greyson, you’re so sweet and so talented, and I was so excited you covered ‘Paparazzi,’” his muse told a dumbfounded Greyson. “Just keep following your dreams and work really hard, stay away from girls and be focused.” she counseled.
Greyson was so awe-struck he called the singer ‘Miss Gaga.’
The world now seems in his spell, but a few people clearly saw something like this in Chance’s future;
“I have never seen anyone with his level or type of talent,” says Kelly Cheek, Greyson’s music teacher at Cheyenne. “We really hope he comes back to school for the rest of the year, but after this video who knows what his future holds?”
In another parallel with Bieber, whose crown as ‘Tween idol’ may soon be his, Greyson joined Twitter and has even signed a record deal with the same label — Interscope.
He’s now in discussions about a first album, and what happens from there is a blank — With his voice and new fame he could make Justin a has-been and encircle the world.
But that’s up to the fans — Is this really ‘Bieber 2.0′? Let’s hear your opinions…?
I hope they don’t turn this musical prodigy into an autotoning, lip syncing teeny bopper like they did with bieber.

This kid’s definitely more talented than Bieber. He can actually sing and he’s actually written a couple deep songs, unlike Justin Bieber singing autotuned about “love” and “girls” in just about every song. Greyson’s song Stars is better than just about any song out there today. I think if he keeps up what he’s doing and doesn’t go the manufactured pop route like Justin Bieber did, he’ll really make a name for himself and he won’t get all the hate Justin Bieber gets. Lets see him on an album with just a piano and a backing band and he could become the next Billy Joel!
Wow! I’m a Bieber fan while both have talent, Bieber’s got more of the look, charm and swag, and Chance is just adorable, with a strong singing voice. I have to say Chance might be my new fave. Although I’m tired of the crushing on teen singers. I think Chance attracts a different crowd than Bieber so i think Bieber is fine.
Hey. I have to agree with the lyrics and stuff. You have to think, though, not all artists have a say in what they write, and some have some say in their lyrics. I have to agree the whole puppy-love song era with every artist is getting extremely old. Can we sing about puppies or something now?
Hey, don’t hate on Chance. I’m a Bieber fan but Chance will probably attract a whole different crowd than Bieber. Bieber looked up to Usher as an intense hip-hop/R&B artist. Bieber has got this white chocolate swag to him. While Chance looks up to Gaga, a new pop artist who’s extremely different and loves it that way. I love Gaga and like Usher. so I’m all for both.

Greyson Chance is a TON better! While Justin “Beaver” just goes “Lalalalalalalalala” all day, Chance plays piano, sings, AND writes music! PLUS he’s a lot more humble. Go Greyson! Follow your dreams! You’re going to totally KILL Justin Bieber! He’ll have no idea what hit him!
I agree! BUT, I’m a Male. I’m not all over that Teen Singer thing. I don’t quite understand it. BUT Greyson doesn’t need all the charm! He plays piano, sings, AND writes beautiful music! Not to mention, Justin’s voice is all computerized. I bet he can’t even SING! Greyson is humble and doesn’t use all that computer crud.
