Roman Polanski hit by new sexual abuse allegations

RomanPolanski[1][HMG] – With his life already blighted by scandal and lawsuits, Roman Polanski is facing new charges as a previously unknown alleged victim, Charlotte Lewis gave a news conference this morning with Gloria Allred, accusing the director of “sexually predatory conduct.”

The press show began with Ms. Allred explaining why her client has come forward with these allegations, and what the legal result could be for Polanski. Ms. Lewis, 42, a British actress who appeared in Polanski’s 1986 movie ‘Pirates,’ then read a statement but did not take any questions.

“Mr. Polanski sexually abused me in the worst possible way when I was 16 years old,” the actress stated. “He knew I was only 16 when he met me and forced himself upon me in his apartment in Paris, and I have lived with the effects of his behavior ever since it occurred. All I want is justice.”

This latest bad news comes as the 76-year old film director is already under house arrest at his chalet in Switzerland, fighting extradition to the United States over charges brought in 1978 that he had sexual relations with a 13-year old girl.

A plea bargain was reached, but the Judge reneged on the deal and Polanski then fled to France. He was re-arrested on those charges in September last year and faces two years in jail if extradition is achieved.

Details on the new charges are thin, but Ms. Lewis alleges Polanski abused her over 25-years ago when she was 16-years old. That’s six years after Roman fled to France — where the age of consent is 15.

The pair met with L.A. County’s Deputy District Attorney, David Walgren yesterday and presented their allegations. There’s no word yet on what the D.A’s office may do with this data.

The story is developing and we’ll keep you advised.
