Adoption will help Sandra Bulllock get past divorce, say experts

Sandra Bullock[HMG] – Yesterday’s news that Sandra Bullock has filed for divorce was little surprise. But her decision to proceed with adopting the baby which she and upcoming ex, Jesse James had acquired has pleased many people.

“The adoption could be the biggest, most wonderful distraction there is,” says well-known psychology author and researcher, Dr. Robert Epstein. “It’s a way of self-soothing, which is what we all try to do when we suffer a loss.”

But the Doc seems concerned that Sandra may be so distracted by the pain of the breakup, she could find it hard to give all her attention to caring for her new 3½-month old child.

And Mark Yarhouse, professor of psychology at Virginia’s Regent University tends to agree — While being concerned that it’s often hard for single parents to cope with the demands of adoption he concedes that;

“Sandra’s not a typical single mother. She has the kind of resources and support structure that bodes well for this to work out.”

Other experts are concerned by her future; Having a baby enter your life while you’re trapped in a humiliating and highly public divorce is serious stress. For example, what if Jesse tries to claim equal rights to the child?

“It depends on what stage the adoption is at,” Family Law specialist, Barry Finkel tells the News. “He could have certain rights to that child, depending on where the process is at this point. But Sandra could argue in court that Jesse was unfit, or that there are other reasons he can’t meet the needs of the child,”

Sources say Sandra has now arranged the adoption to be completed with her as the sole parent. “I really don’t know how our paths will intersect in the future,” she has said in regard to her husband.

So it looks like Jesse is out of luck, and out of the frame – for good!…
