Bret Michaels(HMG) – As promised, fans were updated on Bret Michaels official website, on his condition today. Michaels is still hospitalized in still critical condition from his brain hemorrhage, but is conscious though speaking with slurred speech, as doctors try to locate and stop the bleeding.

“Everyone at Michaels Entertainment would like to thank all fans and friends for their continued thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.

“At this point Bret remains in ICU in critical condition. He is under 24 hour doctors care and supervision. We are hopeful that further tests will locate the source of the bleeding, which has still not been located. As we all know Bret is a fighter and we are hopeful that once all is complete the slurred speech, blurred vision and dizziness, etc. will be eliminated and all functions will return to normal.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.”

The subarachnoid hemorrhage Bret has suffered, is bleeding that occurs in the area between the brain and the thin tissues that cover the brain. According to reports, an estimated 30,000 people suffer subarachnoid hemorrhages each year. Doctors first try to stabilize the patient’s condition and then concentrate on repairing the cause of the bleeding and relieving symptoms. Doctors are also careful to monitor the patient in order to prevent any further complications. Further complications from a subarachnoid hemorrhage include permanent brain damage or stroke.

Update: Michaels reportedly suffered from what doctors call ‘thunderclap headaches,’ which are defined by the suddenness and severity of their pain. A source says he felt “like [getting] hit in the head with a baseball bat over and over again.”  Meanwhile, Apprentice boss Donald Trump wonders if Michaels’ head injury at the 2009 Tony Awards last June may have triggered his brain hemorrhage.
