Tabloids descend on Crystal Bowersox’s hometown digging for dirt

Crystal Bowersox(HMG) – It’s pretty certain that Crystal Bowersox, deservedly will be one of the final contestants on American Idol this season.  Whether the recent story surrounding her alleged attempt to quit the show, before being ‘saved’ by “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest, was a publicity stunt to boost ratings is uncertain.   Though details emerging from a recent interview with ousted contestant and Bowersox confidante Katelyn Epperly indicate that a Bowersox/Seacrest conversation did take place, but that at no point did Bowersox mention quitting.  But in any case with Crystal emerging as the Idol favorite the tabloids are looking to stir up some controversy. The Sandusky Register, a local newspaper in Crystal’s hometown of Elliston, Ohio, claims that “celebrity gossip magazines” and various websites have been sneaking around town “digging for all the dirt they can find” on the soulful singer.  According to The Register, even a reporter from The National Enquirer has been snooping around and “looking for tips” about Crystal’s young son. He’d stumbled upon one of the Register’s stories and hoped to track down the boy’s birth certificate so he could get the scoop on the baby’s father.  It comes with the territory but I don’t think Crystal is the typical fame seeker that often come on these shows, and it’s going to be the price she’ll have to pay for being so talented.
