Drew Carey[HMG] – Having already been an actor, comedian, improv performer and a game-show boss, Drew Carey is now plotting his fifth TV incarnation in a hidden-camera show.

Since making his debut in September 1995 on ‘The Drew Carey Show’ the 51-year old Ohio native has become one of the best known faces in network TV, but his latest project will leave him almost unseen.

Entitled “WTF!” – which those responsible are slyly trying to convince us stands in this case for ‘Wow, That’s Funny!” – the show will feature Drew as the host of a ‘hidden camera’ show in which a group of overgrown frat-boys ‘wreak havoc in public places.’ by pulling harmless stunts on an innocent public.

In one example shown in the pilot, which Drew shot last Saturday, the jolly jesters transformed a drab, late-night truck stop into a five-star restaurant, thereby hopelessly confusing its bristle-chinned clientele.

THR says the idea for the show had been floating for months, but Drew finally got the green-light from CBS after the success of their Sunday night snoozer, ‘Undercover Boss’ which shares a similar format.

There’s no word on an air-date yet as that will depend on whether the pilot succeeds. But if it does get a full season order we’ll be sure to bring you the details…
