(HMG) – Actor Danny Glover got himself arrested for an act of civil disobedience along with 11 others during a labor union protest at the Maryland headquarters of a food service company, Sodexo.
The group of 12 was part of Service Employees International Union, which was protesting what it calls Sodexo’s union-bashing and unfair and illegal treatment of workers.
Montgomery County police spokesman Capt. Paul Starks says Glover and others stepped past yellow police tape and were asked to step back three times at Sodexo headquarters. When they refused, Starks says officers arrested them, and all 12 — self-named the “dirty dozen” because of their call to “clean up” Sodexo — were taken in police vans to a nearby station where they would be issued citations
The dozen were issued citations for trespassing and let go. Starks says they face a $1,000 fine or 90 days in jail.
