Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy have called it quits!

(HMG) – Sad to hear that Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy have called it quits after five years of dating!  Jenny’s spokesperson got a statement out announcing the breakup:

“Jim and Jenny have recently decided to end their five year relationship. They are grateful for the many blessings they have shared and wish each other the very best,” a rep for the former Playboy model said in a statement issued Tuesday.

The former couple also took the modern approach of announcing the news themselves via Twitter. Jim confirmed the split on his Twitter account  writing:

“Jenny and I have just ended our 5yr relationship. I’m grateful 4 the many blessings we’ve shared and I wish her the very best! S’okay!”

Jenny also made the split official on her JennyFromMTV handle on Twitter shortly after, adding:

“Im so grateful for the years Jim and I had together. I will stay committed to Jane and will always keep Jim as a leading man in my heart.”

McCarthy also tweeted that she would remain involved in his adult daughter’s life.  Carrey now 48, started seeing McCarthy, 37,  an ex-Playboy model and TV personality-turned-autism activist,  in 2005.  No reason has been given for the breakup, but I am sure the tabloids will start making things up very soon.
