Desperate Housewives star, Teri Hatcher bows website for Chicks
[HMG] – It seems just being Susan Mayer on Desperate Housewives is not enough fame for Teri Hatcher — now she’s launched her own web site as a “Chick’s guide to life.”
Continuing her partnership with Disney – who own ABC — the 45-year old actress is now prepping a web site designed to attract a wider female audience to her bosses ‘Family.com’ group of sites, thus improving and widening their current demographic that is mostly home-makers and moms.
“I have a compelling passion to be a woman with other women,” Teri explained as her motives. “We’re the caregivers, the teachers, the lovers.”
The site — GetHatched.com – is now in preview, with a full launch scheduled for later this year. And Disney says it it will feature ‘creative and editorial insight from Ms. Hatcher, and a small team of contributors.”
Already a contributor to both ‘Glamour UK.’ and ‘Newsweek,’ and the author of a 2006 book “Burnt Toast and Other Philosophies of Life,” the new site gives Teri yet another outlet for her feminist views.
“I’m just open and talk about anything, usually with humor, because that’s what gets me through the day,” she told the Reporter. “I don’t self-edit.”
And as the four other sites in the ‘Family’ portfolio, ‘Family,’ ‘FamilyFun,’ ‘Kaboose’ and ‘BabyZone,’ pull in over 8-million visitors a month, both Teri’s site and her one-sided perspective should soon get a lot of attention.
Other celebs are expected to contribute, but her gal-pals on ‘Housewives’ may not be among them as they don’t even know what she’s up to…Yet.
While Teri already makes $285,000 a week for her role on ‘Desperate,’ the financial details of this deal are being kept secret. But I’d bet $1-million ABC finds a way to include the new site in her show…
