‘Motherhood’ Starring Uma Thurman, Jodie Foster and Minnie Driver Totally BOMBS In England
(HMG) – Talk about the ‘mother’ of all bad movies. By Hollywood movie standards, ’Motherhood’ is probably a low budget film at $5 million dollar movie , but it still might rank as one of the biggest bombs of all time. With Uma Thurman starring and a cast that includes Jodie Foster and Minnie Driver, one would think actors like this would not get involved in a project that they didn’t think had some real potential. The film only made $60,000 in it’s run in America last year, so perhaps expectations for worldwide success weren’t high, but no one expected what followed. The film directed by Katherine Dieckmann took in just $133 at the British box office on its opening weekend March 5, and only made $13.50 on Sunday. That works out to about 12 or so people watching the film on it’s debut weekend from Friday to Monday. Ouch! The spectacular failure has now degenerated into a bitter blame game between Metrodrome, responsible for marketing the film in the UK, and producer Jana Edelbaum, who blames the company for Motherhood’s atrocious performance. Only one prominent British theater chain called Apollo carried the film, with the film’s producers hoping that exclusivity would generate a buzz and lead to box office success by word of mouth. But it’s hard to get much word of mouth going when no one bothers to watch.

Jodie Foster only has a very small cameo, so she doesn’t really count.
obviously Motherhood is not all that it is cracked up to be!
