Sarah Palin officially lands new TLC show

[HMG] – If you thought Sarah Palin was already on your television more often than dust, we have some bad news — She’s just scored her own series with TLC — the same people who inflicted Jon and Kate Gosselin on the world.

TLC will hold a press conference later today to announce the former Governor to host ‘Sarah Palin’s Alaska,’ has signed on to host an eight-episode travelogue showcasing the glorious but largely unknown landscapes of our most northern state.

“The series will reveal Alaska’s powerful beauty as it has never been filmed, as told by one of the state’s proudest daughters,” Discovery’s COO, Peter Liguori oozed in a statement.

The new show has been shopped around Hollywood for several weeks, but the networks all passed on the chance to inflict that much pain on their viewers so TLC won the prize. Avoiding the word ‘reality’ – probably because Ms. Palin hasn’t faced that in years — their press release about this new new horror is fawning enthusiasm raised to an art;

“TLC is grounded in great storytelling, strong characters, and extraordinary people doing extraordinary things.” Eileen O’Neill, President and general manager of TLC, told the Times. “We are confident ‘Sarah Palin’s Alaska’ will be another compelling television event.”

Already a paid talking-head at Fox News, Ms. Palin’s conservative politics have upset many people who fear climate change. She once declared that ‘We can’t say with assurance that man’s activities cause weather changes,” and some folk are concerned Sarah will use the show as her personal soapbox to promote these kind of views. TLC disagrees;

“TLC is about strong characters and compelling narratives, there is no absolutely intention of making a political program,” a spokesman told reporters.

With all the papers now signed, the new infomercial show now begins the development phase. There’s no clue on an air date at this point, but you can bet your last dollar Sarah will let us know when it’s time…
