Co-founder of KC and the Sunshine Band charged with sexual abuse
(HMG) – The co-founder of 70s Disco legends KC and the Sunshine Band – who sang hits “Shake Your Booty” and “That’s The Way (I Like It)” – has allegedly admitted having sex with teenage boys. Richard R. Finch, 56, was arrested on Tuesday after a young boy apparently told authorities he’d had sexual contact with the musician at his home. The boy made the revelation last week.
The bass guitarist was interviewed by the Licking County sheriff’s office, in Ohio, US, and admitted having sex with the boy and others ranging in age from 13-17, cops said. Seven-time Grammy Award winner Finch was being held Wednesday at the sheriff’s office on $250,000 bond, charged with gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony. Law enforcement are putting together a grand jury to consider additional charges of sexual imposition, gross sexual imposition, importuning and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, according to court records. Finch started KC and the Sunshine Band in 1973 in Miami Florida with Harry “KC” Casey, who was a record company stockroom clerk when they met.
