Katherine Heigl confirms she’s officially done with “Grey’s Anatomy”
(HMG) – After months of rumors, it’s now official that Katherine Heigl has left ‘Grey’s Anatomy.’
In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, Heigl reveals that she is “done” with the show, saying:Â “We finalized our agreement. Everyone had been working hard to find an amicable way of moving on. It’s sad but it’s what I wanted.”
The actress cited family issues, not her blossoming film career, behind her exit. “I started a family and it changed everything for me,” she told the magazine, regarding her adopted daughter, Naleigh. “It changed my desire to work full-time.”
Strange since Heigl, who won a Best Supporting Actress Emmy in 2007 for her portrayal of Dr. Izzie Stevens, has two new films headed to the big screen this year: ‘Killers,’ opposite Ashton Kutcher, and Greg Berlanti’s ‘Life as We Know it,’ with ‘Transformers’ star Josh Duhamel.
According to the story, the Jan. 21 Grey’s episode was Heigl’s last official appearance, even though she was supposed to appear in five additional episodes this season.
“I know I’m disappointing the fans. I just had to make a choice. I hope I made the right one,” she added.
