Tim Burton to Direct a 3-D ‘Addams Family’

addamsfamily(HMG) – Despite mixed reviews, Tim Burton’s 3-D film Alice in Wonderland, has earned a sold  $230 million–so far. So he has now signed on to reboot ‘The Addams Family’ in three dimensions and using stop-motion animation for Universal. The film’s look will be inspired by Charles Addams’ original Addams Family cartoons from The New Yorker as single panel cartoons between 1938 and 1988, when Addams passed away, and not the sixties Addams Family live-action TV.

There’s no writer attached yet, so chances are Burton will at least do one live-action film (Dark Shadows, hopefully?) before the doors to the Addams’ spooky home swing open.

With no script yet, there are no actors attached, but one wonders if Burton will hire Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter, as Gomez and Morticia?
