‘Monster Squad’ to get remake that will ruin your dreams

[HMG] – If you like vampires and mummies in tiresome remakes with really bad plots, do we have a movie for you! Michael Bay and his friends have now conned persuaded Paramount to remake ‘Monster Squad’ And Megan Fox cannot be far behind.

The 1987 original of this unwanted reboot concerned a group of children who were all big fans of monsters. So imagine their delight and surprise when Count Dracula shows up. And he’s brought Frankenstein’s Monster, the Wolfman, the Mummy and even the Gillman, just for grins.

These vocal yokels tell our heroes they’ve returned to get their claws on an amulet that will let them take over the world. With unbounded shock – and truly bad overacting – the tiny army of losers and geeks then mount a defense and try to save all of mankind.

Deadline says Rob Cohen, who produced the original is aiming to direct this remake, and he and Michael Bay are now picking out writers.

The script for the original [or as it will be known from now on, 'The good one.'] was co-written by Fred Dekker and Shane Black. Shane then penned ‘Lethal Weapon,’ whose huge public appeal and even bigger box-office made him the highest paid writer of the entire decade. But he’s already refused to return.

Sony Pictures had been eying this remake for some time, but they’re now low on funds for new movies and among the first to get kicked to the curb was this one – which is not a good sign.

There’s no cast or release date as yet, but with Mr. Bay in the back office I’ll bet you $10 Megan Fox gets a role. As for the rest of the cast, we’ll keep you advised…
