(HMG) – Iggy Pop’s Stooges, The Hollies, Jimmy Cliff, Genesis, and ABBA accepted induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Monday.  The class of 2010, was a year of belated admissions, with all but the careers of ABBA, dating back to the 1960s.

As for the performances, Phish performed Genesis’ songs, while two members of Maroon 5, Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael (photo below) performed the Hollies’ British Invasion hits “Bus Stop” and “Carrie Anne.” Levine hit the high notes for “Carrie Anne,” while Pat Monahan, from the band Train, took over lead vocals for “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress.”  Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff tore the place up with renditions of his classic tracks “You Can Get It If You Really Want,” “Many Rivers To Cross,” and a Wyclef Jean-assisted “The Harder The Come.”  ABBA were represented musically by Benny Andersson, who accompanied Faith Hill on piano for a version of “The Winner Takes It All.”  The Stooges as they stormed through “Search and Destroy” and “I Wanna Be Your Dog.”  In the photo above, midway through “I Wanna Be Your Dog” a shirtless Iggy Pop commanded the black tie audience to storm the stage. “Come on!” Iggy ordered, “Let’s get the Upper East Side up here!” With that, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder and Jeff Ament, Green Day’s Mike Dirnt and a handful of others ran on the stage, as Billie Joe Armstrong and Iggy closed out the song.
