Corey Haim Found Dead of Likely Drug Overdose
(HMG) – Actor and former teen idol, Corey Haim, 38, died this morning of an apparent overdose, according to LAPD.
Haim died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday of an apparent accidental overdose, according to the LAPD’s North Hollywood Division, who found four prescription bottles nearby.
Coroner’s Lt. Cheryl MacWillie said an autopsy would determine an official cause of death.
He was at home struggling with flu-like symptoms in recent days, and when he got out of bed at around 1:30 AM, he collapsed in front of his mother. She called 911, and Corey was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Haim first starred in 1984′s “Firstborn” with Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr.
He shot to fame when he co-starred in a number of films, including “The Lost Boys,” with Corey Feldman. Both actors appeared together on the A&E show “The Two Coreys,” which aired from 2007 to 2008.
The Canadian-born actor also reportedly was in and out of rehab 15 times, and reportedly suffered a drug-induced stroke in 2001 and was rushed to the UCLA Medical Center.
Rest in peace, Cory!
