mini-DanielRadcliffe[1][HMG] – Showing the depth of compassion that has endeared him to millions Harry Potter star, Daniel Radcliffe flew to New York last week to support a suicide prevention charity – and was rewarded for this kindness with a bad case of the runs.

The 20-year old Brit flew to New York to support ‘The Trevor Project’ — a charity which helps gay and transgendered teens overcome feelings of depression and rejection that can lead to some to suicide.

“It’s something I’ve always been quite passionate about,” Dan told reporters. “Because I grew up around gay men, it was always a natural thing to me. It was never something to which I gave a second thought.”

It’s believed Daniel contracted the stomach bug while on route to the date. It soon got so bad, he was even briefly admitted to a local hospital, suffering mild dehydration.

And people who shared his return flight to London say the after-effects were painfully clear.

“He looked as white as a sheet!” one passenger told the Sun. “He said he felt like he was going to die and spent most of the time in the toilet.”

Of course, Daniel’s low-profile — and clearly painful – support of the event soon re-ignited some people’s small-minded claims that he must be gay. A rumor the actor has frequently squashed;

“If people want to say that, they can. I’m not. I’m straight,” he told MTV last week.

Meantime, you can catch Daniel in a rather healthier state when ‘Deathly Hallows, Part 1′ opens on November 19…
