Malcom in the Middle’s Frankie Muniz joins hot indie band
[HMG] – Thousands of people strive to be famous, but of the tiny percentage who achieve that desire few would have the nerve or the class to walk away from its lifechanging lure. ‘Malcolm in the Middle’s’ Frankie Muniz did just that.
After ‘Malcolm’ wrapped production in 2006, New Jersey-born Frankie had a few other roles, but in 2008 he walked away from the whole ‘Hollywood’ thing and carved out a career in race cars. Then in December last year he discovered yet another career — He’s now the drummer for the Arizona-based band, ‘You Hang Up.’
“This is something I have always wanted, and I’m thrilled to be associated with such a great group of guys!” Frankie, 24, wrote on his MySpace page just after joining the band.
And the other three members seem equally jazzed; Their MySpace bio now reads;
“Frankie moved to Arizona in 2008 to pursue a career in racing, but has now become a fixture of ‘You Hang Up.’ Between Frankie’s incredible drumming skills and his passion for music, he adds a flavor to You Hang Up that could not blend better with the group.”
The band have since done a few gigs, but PopEater says one performance got Frankie really fired up;
“We had a secret show last night and it was INSANE!” he recently tweeted. “The place was PACKED and we killed! It was our first show!”
So with actor, racing driver and hard-rock drummer already done, you’d wonder if Frankie plans any more careers? It seems he just might;
“Actor, race car driver, drummer and accountant has a nice ring to it,” he recently tweeted.
I’m sure we all wish him luck. I just wish a lot more of Hollywood’s current inmates would follow Frank’s lead and stop acting…
