Angelina Jolie reunites with Daddy Jon Voight

(HMG) – Angelina Jolie has seemingly ended her eight-year-long public feud with her father, actor Jon Voight.  Jolie, her partner Brad Pitt, and Voight were seen together in Venice Sunday with the couple’s daughter Zahara, getting into a boat for what looked like a leisurely ride. The fight began in 2002, when Voight said his daughter needed help for her “serious mental problems” on Access Hollywood. Jolie severed ties, refused to let Voight see her six children, and didn’t speak to him even when her mother—and Voight’s ex-wife—Marcheline Bertrand died in 2007.  After Voight had made public appeals for a reunion for several years, The Daily Mail reports, that Pitt encouraged Jolie to contact her dad last fall, and she did.

Last November, the 70-year-old actor confirmed: ‘We’re in touch, but not regularly. We love each other and that’s the most important thing.’

Jolie has moved her brood to Italy recently in preparation to begin filming The Tourist with Johnny Depp in Venice in March.  Voight was in Europe, attending the IFTA awards ceremony in Dublin Saturday, at which he presented Irish-based director John Boorman with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
