Seagal lawman-dvd(HMG) – Action film star Steven Seagal’s hit reality docudrama has been picked up for a second season on A&E, after a record-breaking inaugural season that solidified the show’s title as the most watched freshman performance in A&E history. The network has ordered 16 additional episodes of Steven Seagal: Lawman, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The show, which averaged 2.1 million viewers per episode, follows the ’90s action star in his role as a Louisiana law enforcement official. For nearly 20 years, the martial arts star has also served as a fully commissioned deputy with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana.  In addition to going out on patrol, expert marksman Seagal works with their elite SWAT team and instructs fellow officers in firearms and the art of hand-to-hand combat. Seagal and his hand-picked team of deputies will be back to protect the people of New Orleans, but this time the production filmed during Mardi Gras.

“It presents some unique challenges to the police force and Seagal; there’s such a high volume of people you never quite know what you’re going to get,” said series executive producer Robert Sharenow. “The show is very straightforward when they’re intervening during crimes — there’s no nudging wink at the audience. Steven’s just got this funny, dry sense of humor.”
