[HMG] – When you become successful as an actor, or practically anything else you become a target for those who are not. And Harry Potter creator, J.K. Rowling is proving that fact once again.

The 44-year old author of the literary sensation has been named as a defendant in a plagiarism lawsuit which claims she copied parts of the late English author Adrian Jacobs’ 1987 book “The Adventures of Willy the Wizard #1,” and reproduced them for Harry’s fourth hardcover outing, ‘The Goblet of Fire.’

Naturally, JK denies this.

“I am saddened that yet another claim has been made that I have taken material from another source to write Harry,” Rowling said in a statement. “I had never heard of the author, or the book before the first accusation by his estate.”

First filed against her publishers, Bloomsbury in 2004 the suit has now been revived to include JK [using her married name, Joanne Kathleen Murray,] and claims she copied themes such as contests, prisons and hospitals for wizards from the obscure 1987 novel.

As for the plaintiffs…well, judge for yourselves;

“We were advised we were out of time to bring an action against Ms. Rowling as ‘Goblet of Fire’ was published in 2000,” reps for the late Mr. Jacobs estate told the press.

They then said they only added JK as a defendant, “after discovering legal cause of action against her within the last six years.”

Bloomsbury will now ask the court to dismiss the suit as clearly being without merit, but JK’s not taking this well;

“The claims are not only unfounded but absurd, and I am disappointed that Bloomsbury and I should have to defend ourselves,” she told Business Week.

Last year JK’s net-worth was placed at $798-million. You think that may be the motive for this sad little tale?…
