Andrew Dice Clay stages comeback…again

(HMG) – There are many things in life for which to be grateful — Good food, your own home, a warm place to sleep…and the fact you’ve never even heard of Andrew Dice Clay.

Born ‘Andrew Clay Silverstein’ on September 29, 1957 in Brownsville, New York, the 52-year old comic began his stand-up career at age 20, and soon gained [and deliberately provoked] an unenviable record as the most foul-mouthed comedian of that decade at least [Think 'South Park,' but with lower IQ and more hair.]

Reviews called him “crass, racist, misogynistic, boorish and ‘lout’ — And those were the good ones. But a four-letter word riddled guest spot on their 1989 Music Awards got him banned from MTV, and his career went into a coma from there.

And now Mr. Clay is planning his comeback. Yes, again.

Currently headlining at the Las Vegas Hilton, Andrew plans to tour later this year, using the 20th Anniversary of his only movie not filmed in a club, 1990′s ‘The Adventures of Ford Fairlane’ as an excuse to emerge.

“That movie had such a following, such a controversy, I think it could wind up being a tremendous tour,” Andrew told the Post.

Andrew’s performance as Fairlane was so rabidly anti-women it caused feminist protests outside many theaters, and even got Nora Dunn [one of the SNL cast] fired when she refused to appear in a show next to Andrew.

But as devoid of perception as his act is of culture, Andrew rolls on regardless. He now says ‘Fairlane’ co-stars, Billy Idol and Sheila E. may join the tour, and he wants to lure Priscilla Presley and [fellow Las Vegas staple,] Wayne Newton out of well-earned obscurity, too.

The feedback on these plans is acidic. At the height of his fame [about '86] vast swathes of this nation raised hating Andrew to an Olympian sport. And they’ve not gone away. If the tour’s only a disaster, he should count himself blessed.
