Matthew Fox and and Evangeline Lilly Quitting Acting After Lost?
(HMG) – Lost stars Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly have shocked fans with the announcement that they both plans to quit acting at least for a while, once the desert island drama ends this spring.
Fox, 43, tells US Weekly that he’s done with TV, and the father of two who has a daughter, Kyle Allison, 11, and son Byron, 8, with wife Margherita, wants to focus on family:
“I’ve done two six-year shows, about 300 hours of television. I’m done with that.”
“My family will move to Oregon, back to the country I love,” he tells Us of his plans to relocate from Hawaii and L.A. “I miss the four seasons climate. We’re building a house up there and I’ll be closer to my brothers and my mother. Our kids will be closer to their first cousins.”
Fox who stars as Dr. Jack Shephard on Lost, starred as the eldest brother in the ’90s drama Party of Five for six seasons, joined the cast of the ABC drama in 2004 and is eagerly anticipating the end of the series’ sixth and final season.
“I’m either going to make movies with filmmakers I want to work with or I’ll be doing something else entirely,” he says, adding that his lifestyle doesn’t require him to earn “millions” of dollars.
Meanwhile Evangeline Lilly, who plays feisty Kate Austen in the ABC drama and appears in Oscars favorite The Hurt Locker, wants to “drop off the radar” when the show wraps in May. In fact the 30-year-old Lost star, also hinted that she might quit acting altogether, opting for an off-screen role in film or philanthropic work in Rwanda.
Speaking at the premiere party for the last series of the drama in Honolulu this weekend, she said: “Acting is something I appreciate, and I think it’s been an amazing experience. I’m not passionate about acting the way you probably should be to call yourself an actor.”
“I want to have some quiet space… and enjoy a little bit of normalcy again (before deciding what’s next).”
Lilly reveals that her first priority will be to take part in charity work in Rwanda. The final season of Lost premieres tonight.
