Susan Boyle upsets Brits in bizarre singing scene
[HMG] – In further proof that genius is often matched by odd ways, Scottish singing star Susan Boyle caused a commotion at London’s Heathrow airport while waiting to fly out to be a guest star on Oprah.
More used to the tranquil surroundings of her home in West Lothian, the 48-year old singer suffered some kind of meltdown as she arrived at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 to board the flight to Chicago.
Local paper, The Sun says she grabbed a floor-mop from a cleaner then danced round the lounge, singing into the mop as though it were a microphone
“It was chaos,” says one eye-witness. “Susan was very restless and agitated from the minute she walked in, and immediately started making a scene. She was singing and dancing, and shouting things at full volume.”
Fellow passengers alerted airport staff who tried to calm Susan down, but without much success. Finally a British Airways official got her back in her seat and sat with her until she boarded the flight.
Previous examples of erratic behavior have made some people concerned for Susan’s mental state. But British Airways seems to have taken the scene in their stride; A spokesman just said;
“A customer in the BA lounge was asked to temper their behavior as it was becoming a little disruptive.”
Don’t you just love how the Brits can make borderline psychosis sound like a bad-hair day?…

I can’t believe they let her on the plane. Here in the US she would have been handcuffed and thrown in jail.
No, I was at O’Hare airport when she came in, calm & collected–with an entourage. The only place she would have been left alone at Heathrow was in the ladies restroom–sometimes called a lounge. Gene Kelly & Carol Burnett got paid for doing comedy routines with a mop–sounds like Susan would do it for free. Susan is a great comedienne as well as a singer, but the British don’t seem to have much of a sense of humor–their VIP’s are apparently pretty stuffy. Iif she’d put on a show like that here in O’Hare, we would have been cheering her on! I can’t believe the tabloids take clowning around for fun, and mistake it for mental illness. Get a grip, people!
I would have loved to have been there and would have enjoyed the entire parody and performance. Carry on Susan! We love you
Oh come on – people are allowed to behave like that in airports anymore or they get hauled away by security.
