(HMG) – Actor Michael C. Hall is in complete remission after undergoing treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Hodgkin’s lymphoma is characterized by the orderly spread of disease from one lymph node group to another and by the development of systemic symptoms with advanced disease.
“I feel fortunate to have been diagnosed with treatable and curable condition,” said Hall, who is 38. “I thank my doctors and nurses for their expertise and care.”
The actor, who has won critical acclaim for his roles on “Dexter” and “Six Feet Under,” tells the AP he was lucky enough to be diagnosed with an “imminently treatable and curable condition,” and thanked his doctors and nurses in Los Angeles for helping him through treatment.
Hall’s rep says that the 38-year-old is in complete remission, and is continuing treatment. The survival rate for Hodgkin’s lymphoma is generally 90% or higher when the disease is detected during early stages, making it one of the more curable forms of cancer. It is most likely to be diagnosed in people in their 20s or 30s, becoming less common in middle age and more common again after 60.
Hall and wife Jennifer Carpenter (photo right), who play siblings by adoption on the show) plan to attend the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, where he’s been nominated for his role as a serial killer on “Dexter.”
